As
I look around, I see that my home book shelf has taken on a new look.
I now
see .exe, .txt, .doc, .zip......instead of the more conventional library
I'm accustomed to seeing.
These
documents are full of fun and things to do. They also contain more information
than I ever thought was available.
But,
I still enjoy retiring to my favorite chair and holding a real book in
my hands.
I do enjoy
the e-books that come in various formats but the feel of a real book gives
me an added pleasure to my reading time.
I guess
I would call myself a sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, horror fan.
The writers
that I pick up most are:
Tim LaHaye
& Jerry Jenkins
These two got together
to write a great series of books about the battle
between good and evil.
The series is based on the Bible's Book of Revelations.
Even if you're not
interested in the religious background, I think you'll find
the story itself very
captivating. I've just finished the series and really enjoyed it.
The reading is easy
and there is lots of action.
I'm referring to the
Left
Behind
series
Right from the beginning'
when millions of people around the world
disappear, this series
will grab and hold your attention. See how one of
the main characters,
airline pilot Rayford Steele, must look for his family and
answers. And this is
just the beginning.
Stephen
King
Probably the leader
in the strange horror category.
I have lost lots of
sleep thanks to Mr. King.
Tom Clancy
If you're looking for
adventure, here's the author to try.
The man that wrote
The Hunt For Red October just keeps
pumping out these edge
of the seat stories.
Dale Brown
Another good adventure
writer. I've really enjoyed his war
adventure stories
Dean Koontz
Wow. Now here's a man
that can keep you up at night. His
tales can bring nightmares
to almost anyone.
Michael
Crichton
I've just recently
started reading these books. More like real life than
most books I read.
Some of his stories include:
The Andromeda Strain
Congo
Sphere
and many others
Isaac
Asimov
An amazing Sci-fi writer.
No collection of science fiction books can be
complete without his
books being included.
Patrick
Robinson
I spent much of my
military career on submarines. This writer has
provided me with many
good hours of reading books involving submarines
and their crews as
the main subject . You'll find lots for action in these books.
