When I
saw this Background design made by
Star*Shine,
I thought about my days as a
Scoutmaster.
I know
I have a box of my memories of being
a Boy Scout
as a youth, but for now I can't find
them. So,
I'll give you some of my thoughts
from my
time as a Scoutmaster.
My years
as a Scoutmaster were very rewarding for me.
My Troop
averaged 40 boys from 11 to 18 years old.
They were
a great bunch and I watched many of them
grow into
fine young men.

can be a little scary at times. My Senior Petrol leader and the patrol leaders took very good care of me though. |

You see, one of us had a snoring problem and it kept some people awake. LOL |

At first I didn't know what I
had gotten myself into. The idea
of being the adult leader for
a bunch of young boys was a little
intimidating to me.
They say it only takes an hour
a week to be a Scoutmaster. HaHa.
I found that I spent several
hours a week and I loved every minute.
I attended the training courses
that the local area Scout Council
provided. I learned a lot from
these. I listened to other hardened
Scoutmasters with years of experience.
I was now:
When I went to my first meeting
with my troop as their
Scoutmaster, I saw something
that really touched me.
The look that the Scouts had
in their eyes.
The respect that they had for
THEIR Scoutmaster.
It was almost overwhelming.
I knew right then and there that
I had made the right decision
to become a
Scoutmaster.
From there on out we learned from
each other. Oh yes, I learned
from them maybe more than they
learned from me.
Among many other things,
I learned that given a little
guidance, these Scouts could set their
own goals and carry them out
to completion.
I had many good years as a Boy
Scout and a Scout Leader.
I wouldn't trade that experience
for anything.
